World Horse Welfare helps horses and their owners across the UK and around the world through education, campaigns and hands-on care.

In the UK our welfare hotline receives thousands of calls from the public, and our dedicated network of field officers investigate and resolve these welfare problems. They rescue hundreds of horses each year which are brought back to health at one of our four Rescue and Rehoming Centres where they receive specialist care, undergo rehabilitation and find loving new homes through our rehoming scheme – the largest of its kind in the UK.

Our international programmes help alleviate the suffering of many thousands of working horses each year by providing essential horse care knowledge and skills to impoverished horse-owning communities in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

World Horse Welfare also works to change legislation and attitudes to horse welfare through campaigns and education. We lobby governments on key issues like equine identification, and our educational initiatives help owners keep their horses at the right weight and free from disease, guide them on what to consider before breeding, advise on laminitis and help prepare for the end of their horse’s life.
