Vattenfall is Europe’s fifth largest generator of electricity and the largest producer of heat. Vattenfall engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity primarily in Sweden, Germany and Netherlands. During 2011 Vattenfall also had business in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Poland, France and United Kingdom.
The company also conducts energy trading and lignite mining, as well as produces, distributes, and sells heat. It serves private households and industrial customers. In 2011, Vattenfall had approximately 34,700 employees and generated about 166.7 TWh of electricity.
