BSP Spring Meeting 2018
Life Sciences Research Network Wales

Where: 4
The Life Sciences Research Network was founded in 2013 with funding from Welsh Government and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales to enhance Wales' strength in research by developing new therapeutic treatments in areas of unmet medical and veterinary need. In collaboration with key academic partners across Wales, the Network has provided a platform drawing together researchers focused on the life sciences and drug discovery field in the areas of infectious disease, oncology and neuroscience.

Over the 5-year duration of the project, 131 Network projects have been funded comprising PhD studentships, Postdoctoral projects and platform technologies.
The Network has been instrumental in increasing the number and range of collaborations across Welsh HEIs, with NHS, Biotech, Pharma and Third sector stakeholders. Enhanced engagement has brought focus to areas of excellence and strength within biomedical and veterinary sciences in Wales and has generated over £31 million in additional research funding through competitive grant awards.

The work of some of our PhD and postdoctoral projects at Aberystwyth will be highlighted during the course of the conference and we are therefore delighted to be supporting the British Society for Parasitology Spring Conference in Aberystwyth this year. Please pop along to our stand in the Students Union for further information about the Network and to speak with one of our representatives.
