SiLA is a non-profit, global consortium with the unique target of providing interoperability standards for both the horizontal communication between devices and the vertical integration of result data and workflows. Leading device manufacturers, software companies, system integrators and Pharma-/Biotech-enterprises are members of SiLA and contribute expert knowledge to various Working Groups to further develop the standards. SiLA welcomes companies, research institutions, and individuals to the community and offers professional training and support for implementations.
With the increased efficiency of automated systems, the amount of data being collected, extracted, analysed and manipulated is growing at an unprecedented rate. Although the technology of automated devices is becoming more sophisticated to handle this surge in Big Data, further scientific advances and innovations critically depend on more complex, increasingly integrated, and highly adaptive systems. SiLA’s community-developed interoperability standards are one way to enable the seamless integration of heterogeneous hardware and software technologies found in a lab.
