Discussion

The Lead Discovery Center GmbH (LDC) was founded in 2008 as a unique model for Translational Research by Max-Planck-Innovation to leverage academic research results for the benefit of patients. This is accomplished by a team of professional drug discovery experts in close collaboration with the academic project owners, complemented by outsourcing and a huge collaboration network.
By combing the strengths of academia and industry and functioning as mediator between the two worlds, LDC represents a new paradigm and role model within the structural change of early drug discovery. The scientific and commercial successes achieved within the first 5 years nicely validate LDC's business model.
