Discussion

We aim to capitalize on an array of recent technological advances, encompassing genetics, cell biology, screening, informatics, and small molecule chemical technologies, to develop a UK National Phenotypic Screening Centre (UK-NPSC). This initiative will create an open-access, state-of-the-art high content phenotypic screening platform for new drug-like agents in the most medically relevant contexts. The development of such a phenotypic screening centre, embedded within the UK University sector, is both timely and highly relevant.
