Cell biology processes such as protein secretion or autophagy are important for cellular health and implicated in a variety of diseases ranging from blood clotting disorders to neuro-degeneration. We are interested in investigating cell biology processes by phenotypic screening and high-content imaging. In this talk, I will focus on two organelles that are central to several cellular processes. First, I will present our findings on the identification of novel regulators of autophagy using a range of phenotypic assays. In the second part, I will discuss how we have used morphometric profiling to assess the biogenesis and function of secretory granules involved in secretion of von-Willebrand factor.
