Discussion

The dynamism of cellular plasticity provides the opportunity to harnessing this property for therapeutic and industrial applications including drug discovery, cell and gene therapy. However, experimentation towards the identification of relevant cell culture conditions for desired endpoints is resource intensive and often results in failure, especially for endpoints that require sequential complex cell culture conditions. Plasticell has developed a unique combinatorial cell culture technology named CombiCult®. CombiCult® enables the high throughput testing of tens of thousands of complex sequential cell culture conditions in a single experiment to identify optimal protocols for variety of end points including but not exclusively cellular differentiation and cell expansion. It adds significant competitive edge to any cell processing/manufacturing project by identifying cheaper, faster and better methods and to maximise the probability of clinical success.

Leveraging the unrivalled capacity of CombiCult®, Plasticell is developing a number of lead assets towards the clinic including bone repair, platelet manufacture, neural cell therapy, and is extending the platform into cellular gene therapy as well as protein manufacture. Plasticell also supports its sister company Progenitor Therapeutics focused on the identification of regenerative medicines by screening against human progenitor cells.

This presentation will describe CombiCult® and provide examples of lead programmes.
