Discussion

The clinical application of cell-based therapeutics is ever-accelerating with a dramatic increase in the number of advanced trials and approved cell therapy products (CTPs) to the market. One of the major bottlenecks for CTPs, however, is in the storage of cells for distribution from the donor or bank, to sites of processing, and back to the clinic. Atelerix has developed a hydrogel-based cell encapsulation technology that extends the shelf-life of cells at room temperature. This means that fresh CTPs can be stored for longer and distributed further, enhancing flexibility in the supply chain without the need for cryopreservation. This webinar will discuss the benefits and limitations of distributing CTPs in their fresh state, and discuss how the implementation of tools that extend shelf-life can introduce a number of benefits in terms of costs, final product quality, and accessibility of cell-based therapies.
