Profile of Dr R. Scott Pirie
After two years in private equine practice and three years at the University of Edinburgh first opinion equine practice, Scott has been a member of the University of Edinburgh equine internal medicine referral service since 1994. That time has included two three year research periods, taken up with Recurrent Airway Obstruction equine grass sickness. He gained his RCVS Certificate in Equine Practice in 1994 and in 1996 his RCVS Certificate in Equine Internal Medicine. Scott’s PhD was awarded in 2002 and in 2004 he gained the European Diploma in Equine Internal Medicine. Interests: Scott’s interests include Equine pulmonology and gastroenterology, and research on equine environmental airway disease and innate immune response of the equine lung, as well as equine dysautonomia aetiopathogenesis.
