Prof Jamie Davies

The overall research theme in Jamie Davies' lab is the question of how complexity arises in biological systems. The lab team explores this in the context of organ development, and uses the lessons learned to develop new tools for tissue engineering. They are also pioneers of applying synthetic biological techniques to multicellular mammalian systems, in an attempt to emulate natural developmental events using simple designed systems, and also to explore alternative ways that development could have happened had evolution taken some different turnings.
