Dr Stephen Chambers

Dr.Stephen Chambers is CEO at SynbiCITE, the Innovation and Knowledge Centre for Synthetic Biology, with the mission to accelerate and promote the commercial exploitation of synthetic biology research and technology in the UK. Dr. Chambers brings over 20 years of biotechnology and entrepreneurial experience. Previously, he was a founding scientist and Director of Gene Expression at Vertex Pharmaceuticals working on a number of drug discovery and development programmes, including the FDA approved drugs: Agenerase & Lexiva. Later he co-founded Abpro, where he served as Vice President of Technology. Dr. Chambers has co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has a number of patents issued.
Dr. Chambers also leads the teaching faculty for the entrepreneurial training programme: the Lean LaunchPad for Synthetic Biology at Imperial College London.
