Profile of Amanda M de Mestre
Following graduation in 1998, Mandi worked as a veterinary surgeon at Scone Equine Hospital, Australia, and for a season in the UK at Newmarket Equine Hospital in the field of equine reproductive and neonatal medicine. In 2005 she completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University. This was followed by postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Professor Douglas Antczak at Cornell University, where she developed her current research interests in equine pregnancy. In 2007, Mandi was appointed as a Lecturer at The Royal Veterinary College, London. In 2013, she was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Reproductive Immunology. Her laboratory, which is currently funded by the Thoroughbred Breeders Association and The Wellcome Trust, has a number of ongoing studies that focus on both physiological and pathological conditions of early equine pregnancy.
