Richard Stephenson

After qualifying in 1987, Richard was employed by the Pool House Veterinary Group and became a partner in 1994. He first began working in mixed practice but for the last 16 years has completed exclusively equine work. He obtained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Radiography in 1991 and the Certificate in Equine Practice in 2001, and was subsequently appointed as examiner and then chief examiner in Equine Practice by the RCVS. Richard was appointed to the Examinations board of the worshipful Company of farriers in 2002 and then to its executive committee. He is currently responsible for writing all WCF examinations both at diploma and higher levels and was admitted to the Livery of the WCF in 2008. Richard was elected to the Council of the RCVS in 2008 and in 2012. In 2009 he was elected by Council to serve on the Disciplinary Committee of the RCVS and subsequently appointed to the Preliminary Investigation Committee of which he is currently a serving member. Richard is also currently a member of the RCVS Legislation Working Party that is steering the new RCVS Charter through the required legal processes. He regularly contributes to the both the lay and veterinary press on subjects as diverse as the regulation of the veterinary profession to foot abscesses!
