Profile of Mr Nicolas de Brauwere
Nicolas was initially a clinician for the UK’s largest horse sanctuary’s resident population of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. More recently, he became Head of the Welfare department, and developed the charity’s Equine Behaviour and Rehabilitation programme and work. He has been Chairman of the National Equine Welfare Council since 2009. His areas of professional interest include equine: herd health, behaviour and welfare, strangles: preventing, managing outbreaks and curing carriers. Improving the welfare of equids through direct support, education of owners; and of professionals, including sharing knowledge of Strangles and clinical relevance of behaviour with peers. Partnership working between charities; and enhanced co-operation between charities, enforcement bodies and the wider horse industry.
