Andy West

Andy has built up an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of mass spectrometry during 20+ years in the field, especially protein and peptide mass spectrometry. He has applied MS techniques through theoretical and practical applications throughout drug discovery over 30+ years working for Pharma. As well as using established technologies he enjoys the challenge of developing methods, investigating and implementing new technologies to meet key problems facing pharmaceutical research projects. His particular skills and interests lie in the area of nano and micro fluidics, novel ionisation technologies and the use of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) to image the distribution of exogenous and endogenous molecules in tissues. Current work is looking at the use of secondary ion mass spectrometry to improve spatial resolution of MSI and move MSI into the fascinating world of cellular imaging.
