Dr Peter Simpson is currently Director of Screening Sciences, for AstraZeneca, leading the implementation of efficacy and safety screens for global project teams. Peter is the coordinator of Early Discovery Partnerships, the AZ initiative to increase collaborative working for innovation in target discovery and hit finding by building novel partnerships with academics, SMEs and Pharmas. He leads alliances with external collaborators such as MRCT in UK, Lead Discovery Center GmbH in Germany, and the Academic Drug Discovery Consortium based in USA.

Peter has spent 16 years in leadership roles in early drug discovery, first with Merck Sharp & Dohme and more recently in the Oncology, and Discovery Sciences, departments of AstraZeneca. As well as co-organising ELRIG Drug Discovery, Peter is Reviews Editor for Journal of Biomolecular Screening, and was a founding member of the Project Management Board of European Lead Factory. Peter is looking forward to hearing the diverse science at ELRIG Drug Discovery 2014 being presented by a dynamic international set of speakers and poster presenters.
