Profile of Katja Breitkopf-Heinlein

Dr. Breitkopf-Heinlein studied biology at the University of Cologne, Germany. Her PhD thesis was about 3D-culturing of fibroblasts in collagen versus fibrin-gels. Her work in academic science over the last 15 years has focused on the investigation of the molecular mechanisms of liver diseases. For the past 10 years, she has worked in Mannheim (Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg). Since 2013, she has collaborated closely with MediCyte on the generation of 3D human liver organoids for use in in vitro studies.
