Profile of Nikki March
Dr Nikki March is a cancer biologist with special interests in cell signaling, intestinal oncology and cancer stem cells. She joined Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute in 2011 as a Senior Bioscientist in the Drug Discovery Unit, where she investigates novel oncology drug targets. She obtained a BSc in Medical Biology at Brunel University in 2001, before spending two years in the biotechnology industry at BioFocus Discovery (now Charles River). Her subsequent PhD research at Cambridge University examined the regulation of AP-1 proteins by MAP kinase pathways. She then undertook postdoctoral studies at the Babraham Institute, UK, where, in collaboration with UCB, she studied the mode of action of an anti-epilepsy drug. Then, as Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, her work focused on the application of innovative models to identify and characterize novel driver genes in colorectal cancer.
