Profile of Dr Mike Waring
Degree in chemistry and PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Manchester ( 1999); 2000-2001 - post-doctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin in the group of Philip Magnus. 2001, joined AstraZeneca as a Medicinal Chemistry Team Leader; currently Principal Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry. From September 2015 will be Prof of Medicinal Chemistry at Newcastle University. Author of over 50 publications and discovery of 14 candidate drugs. 2010 Capps-Green-Zomaya medal for outstanding contributions to medicinal chemistry and 2014 BMCS Lectureship.
