Profile of Gabor Foldes
Dr Gabor Foldes is an Associate Professor at Heart and Vascular Center, Semmelweis University, Hungary and leader of the human pluripotent stem cell team at National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. After obtaining his PhD in 2002, he trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He has held longer visiting positions at Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Oulu. Since October 2007, he has been working at National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. Dr Foldes’ research interests are in particular the cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiac remodelling and heart failure. In addition he has a long-standing interest in cardiac regeneration and cardiovascular derivatives of pluripotent stem cells. He is invited speaker at many cardiovascular and stem cell meetings and author, reviewer or editor for internationally recognised cell journals. His recent academic and clinical awards the European Society of Cardiology Research Grant, the Cellome Award, the Novartis Foundation Award, and the British Heart Foundation Reflections of Research Award.
