Profile of Damian Young
Dr. Dr. Damian Young is the Assistant Director for the Center for Drug Discovery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas. He has faculty appointments in the Departments of Pharmacology and Pathology and Immunology. Dr. Young’s research focuses on combining Diversity-oriented synthesis and fragment-based drug discovery toward generating novel therapeutics. Prior to position he served as Group Leader of Diversity-Oriented Synthesis at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT where he developed libraries of molecules aimed at interrogating normal and disease associated biological processes.
Dr Young received a BS in Chemistry from Howard University in Washington DC and a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC under the direction of Professor Daniel L. Comins. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral studies at Harvard University in the lab of Professor Stuart L. Schreiber.
