James Pilling

James Pilling is an Associate Principal Scientist within the Functional Genomics group in AstraZeneca. The Functional Genomics group is a global capability aligned to the profiling of genetic and other perturbants in cellular models of disease to understand the relationship between genes, their encoded proteins, and cell phenotype to identify novel disease targets. James joined AstraZeneca in 2004 and has worked with applying novel technologies and approaches to Drug Discovery processes across various therapeutic areas. Prior to his current role James worked within the High Content Biology Group to develop and deploy high content phenotypic assays, mechanistic profiling and high content imaging platforms across AstraZeneca. James is a leader in the application of high content imaging within AstraZeneca and is co-chair of AstraZeneca’s Global High Content Imaging Forum.
