Profile of Gareth Wayne
I am currently employed within the Target Sciences department at GSK in Stevenage as a Scientific Leader. Within this role, I am responsible for coordinating and contributing to the development and application of a variety of cellular assay systems in support of target validation studies (with a current focus on targets for diseases of the respiratory epithelial barrier). Prior to my work within Target Sciences, I was employed within both the Assay Development and Compound Profiling and the Screening and Compound Profiling departments. In these departments, I worked within both Cellular Biology and Enzymology groups as an assay designer and screener, as well as a line and matrix manager. During the course of my employment at GSK, I have worked on a wide variety of assay systems across the early drug discovery space and also completed an internally sponsored PhD on the characterisation of novel disintegrin metallopeptidases.
