Profile of Prof Alistair Mathie
After obtaining his PhD from Leicester in 1985, Alistair worked with Stuart Cull-Candy and David Colquhoun at UCL, then Bertil Hille at the University of Washington, studying ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels in mammalian neurons. Academic appointments at the Royal Free, UCL and Imperial were followed by a Professorship in Pharmacology at the University of Kent in 2007. Since 2015, Alistair has also been Deputy Dean for Sciences at Kent.
