Profile of Ali Raoof
Dr Ali Raoof joined the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute Drug Discovery Centre in April 2010 as a medicinal chemist. He gained a 1st class degree in Chemistry and a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Manchester under the supervision of Professor Tim Donohoe before joining Evotec in Oxfordshire for 9 years and trained as a medicinal chemist. Highlights included leading the chemistry for obesity and pain and inflammation projects. One of the neuropathic pain programs was eventually progressed to the late stages of drug design.
In his present role, working as a lead chemist he has helped to progress a collaborative project with GlaxoSmithKline to the latter stages in an oncology setting and is currently leading the chemistry for an internal Cancer Research UK programme.
