Profile of Dr Ian Hardcastle

Dr Ian Hardcastle received his first degree in chemistry from Bristol University, followed by an MSc and PhD in organic synthesis at Manchester University..
He was a post-doctoral fellow in the CRC Centre for Cancer Therapeutics at The Institute of Cancer Research 1990-1999.
He joined the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at Newcastle University as a Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry and was promoted to Reader in 2012. His research within the CR UK Newcastle Drug Discovery Unit is focused on the discovery of new targeted anti-cancer drugs, using contemporary medicinal chemistry.
