Profile of Dr Kelly Gatfield
Kelly is a cell-based assay scientist with more than 10 years experience of drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry. After graduating with a Biomedical Science degree at the University of Sheffield, Kelly completed a PhD at Newcastle University characterising electrogenic amino acid transporters. She joined GSK in 2007 working with and developing cell-based assays using a multitude of assay platforms including high-throughput electrophysiology, calcium imaging and NanoBRET (target engagement). During her time at GSK Kelly has supported a number of ion channel programs as well as developing numerous cardiovascular/CNS liability assays on automated electrophysiology platforms such as IonWorks, Qube384 and QPatch.
