Profile of Dr Arjan Snijder
Biography
Arjan Snijder (Harm Jan Snijder) received his PhD at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, in the field of structural biology where he solved his first crystal structure of a membrane protein. He received further postdoctoral training and an assistant professor role at Chalmers University in Sweden building a membrane protein expression and purification pipeline working. In 2006, he joined Astrazeneca (Gothenburg, Sweden) where he worked with biochemical reagent generation for a wide range of drug discovery projects, including kinases, GPCRs, enzymes and transporters to support lead generation Since 2021, Arjan is directing a team specifically working on membrane protein targets to enable application in assays, biophysical characterization, affinity based hit-finding approaches and structure-based design for small molecules on membrane protein targets.
