Profile of Dr Sebastian Zoll
Sebastian Zoll studied biology with a focus on cell biology, parasitology and virology at the University of Marburg in Germany. For his PhD studies Sebastian moved to the University of Tuebingen in Germany from where he obtained his PhD in structural biology and protein biochemistry in 2012. He then briefly worked at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) in Prague, Czech republic on the structures of intramembrane proteases before he started as a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Biochemistry in Oxford, UK in 2014. During this time Sebastian became interested in the unique biology of the sleeping sickness parasite and its interplay with the human host. In 2019 Sebastian established his own laboratory at the IOCB in Prague where his group is studying the interactions of human innate immune factors with Trypanosoma receptors.
