Profile of Dr Chun-wa Chung
With a interest in both chemistry and physics Chun-wa Chung studied for a BA in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and a PhD in NMR techniques development, combining computational approaches with experimental innovation, at the University of Cambridge. Since joining GSK she has led and supported many projects with a wide repertoire of structural and biophysical techniques and led the introduction of platforms such as medium throughput SPR for hit triage and FBDD, Rapidfire MS for compound screening and most recently, HDX-MS and cryo-EM for molecular binding and mechanistic elucidation.
Chun-wa is currently the UK director of structural and biophysical science at GSK in Stevenage. This group supports crystallography, electron microscopy and biophysical studies from HTS hit triage and mode-of-action analysis to fragment screening across therapeutic areas and drug modalities. She is also a member of MRC’s Infrastructure and Capital Advisory Group and a member of Wellcome Trust’s Molecular Basis of Cell Function expert review group.
