Prof Dirk Linke

Dirk Linke studied Biochemistry at the Free University Berlin and completed his PhD in Biophysical Chemistry at the Technical University Berlin in 2002, working on membrane proteins in the outer membrane of plant chloroplasts. He started a PostDoc and Group Leader career by shifting gears towards microbiology when he moved to the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in 2003, where he investigated membrane insertion and adhesion of different virulence factors of gram-negative bacteria. He moved to Oslo in 2013, where he today holds a Full Professorship in Molecular Microbiology, and still works on adhesins and on transport processes related to the bacterial outer membrane. He is the President of the Norwegian Society for Microbiology, and part of the editorial boards of multiple microbiology and biochemistry journals, including the 'Journal of Biological Chemistry' and 'Molecular Microbiology'.
